A 25-Foot Shawarma Bar Is Coming to Olympic and Bundy in West L.A.

Miya Miya, chef Yazeed “Yaz” Soudani’s weekend shawarma pop-up, is going permanent at the West Edge development. The plan was reported in May 2025 for a 2026 opening and still carries no date; the pop-up runs Fridays and Saturdays from Suite 116 until it sells out.

A 25-foot shawarma bar, with the counter facing an outdoor patio, is planned for the corner of Olympic and Bundy in West Los Angeles. Miya Miya, the shawarma pop-up from chef Yazeed “Yaz” Soudani, will open its first permanent location at the West Edge development there, the trade site What Now Los Angeles reported on May 6, 2025. No opening date has been confirmed.

Miya Miya began in June 2023 as a backyard pop-up and built its audience at Smorgasburg and on TikTok. That is the whole arc of the story: a weekend line becomes a lease. For anyone who has stood in a market queue for a wrap, the news is that the queue is getting an address.

Soudani grew up in Los Angeles and trained in Amman. The name Miya Miya means “100-percent” in Arabic, which the outlet reported reflects his standard for the cooking.

What the menu says

The signature is chicken shawarma seasoned with spices imported from Jordan and served in fresh saj bread, the outlet reported. It comes with garlic sauce or with French fries fried in beef tallow. Spicy garlic sauce and pomegranate molasses are listed as add-ons.

The Smorgasburg regulars made the case first, and reading that build — imported spice, saj, tallow fries — I get the argument. The verdict on the food stays with the people who have actually eaten it; nobody at this desk has.

Where it is going

West Edge opened in 2023 at Olympic and Bundy, according to Eater Los Angeles. Miya Miya would join a tenant mix that already includes Gelson’s, Presotea and Clean Juice.

The design detail worth holding onto is the 25-foot shawarma bar, which What Now Los Angeles reported will let guests watch their food prepared from the outdoor patio. Open-line theater is a choice about pacing as much as flavor: it gives a line something to look at, which is a problem every pop-up-turned-restaurant inherits on day one.

Until then, it is still a pop-up

Miya Miya currently runs a pop-up at West Edge out of Suite 116, in front of the space where the permanent room is planned. The schedule is Fridays from 4:30 p.m. until sellout and Saturdays from 1 p.m. until sellout, per West Edge’s own event listing.

Those times have moved. What Now Los Angeles reported in May 2025 that the weekly Friday pop-up started at 5:30 p.m., an hour later than the current listing. “Until sellout” is doing real work in both versions, so check the listing before you drive to Olympic and Bundy.

What is not settled

The permanent room has no confirmed opening date. What Now Los Angeles reported in May 2025 that Miya Miya would open its first permanent location in 2026; nothing more specific has been confirmed since. Neither What Now Los Angeles nor the West Edge listing carries a seat count, a menu price or a construction timeline, and neither one carries a comment from Soudani.

That is the honest shape of a viral-pop-up-goes-permanent story at this stage: a location, a countertop dimension, a weekend schedule, and a calendar that is still a rumor of a year.
