Terms of Use
Last updated: October 12, 2026.
These are the rules for using thelaglobe.com. They are written to be read. By using the site you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.
Who we are
The LA Globe is published by The LA Globe LLC. In these terms, “the Globe”, “we” and “us” mean The LA Globe LLC and the paper it publishes.
Reading is free
Every story on the site is free to read, with no paywall and no limit. You don’t need an account to read anything.
What you may do with our work
The stories, graphics and photo illustrations the Globe makes are its own work. You may read them, share links to them and quote short passages with credit and a link back. Please don’t copy whole stories or republish our pictures without asking first: write to publisher@thelaglobe.com.
Some pictures on the site belong to other people, and each one carries a credit line. A photograph used under a Creative Commons license links to its license and to the page it came from. You may reuse it only on that license’s terms, not ours.
Accounts
Signing in is optional. There is no password: you sign in with Google or with a link we email you. An account keeps your game scores and streak, the stories you save, the writers you follow, the comments you post while signed in, and a photo if you add one. The privacy page says exactly what is stored.
Keep your email account safe, because anyone who can read your email can use a sign-in link sent to it. You can delete your account at any time with the “Delete account” button on your account page. That erases the account. It does not unpublish a comment we already published or a name already on a day’s leaderboard.
The Globe is a general-audience paper. It is not directed at children under 13.
Comments and letters
You can leave a comment at the end of a story or write a letter. A person reads every one before anything appears. Nothing is published automatically. We may decline to publish any comment or letter, and we may take one down later.
When you send us a comment or letter, you keep the rights to what you wrote, and you give the Globe permission to publish it on the site, with the name and place you typed, for as long as the story is up.
Please don’t send:
- anything that isn’t yours to share, such as someone else’s writing or photos;
- threats, harassment, or attacks on people for who they are;
- private information about anyone, including yourself: phone numbers, home addresses and the like;
- claims about real people that you know are false;
- spam or advertising.
Anything you send may be published, so treat it as public.
Games and leaderboards
The daily games keep a public leaderboard. If you put a name on it, that name (up to 20 characters) and your score are shown on that day’s board. A name appears as soon as you play, so please pick one that follows the comment rules above.
The newsletter
If you sign up, we send a confirmation link first. After you confirm, the newsletter arrives twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
Supporting the Globe
Support is not open yet. When it opens, payments will run through Stripe, and the support page will state the amounts, how often you are charged, how to cancel online, and the refund rule: any payment is refunded in full if you ask within 30 days. Support is not a charitable gift and is not tax-deductible.
Accuracy and corrections
We work to get things right. When we get something wrong, we fix it and add a dated note to the story saying what changed. Every note is listed on the corrections page. To report an error, write to editor@thelaglobe.com with “Correction” in the subject line.
Our stories are news and commentary, not professional advice. Guides on the site, such as how to renew a license or contest a ticket, are a starting point. Check with the agency before you rely on one.
Links to other sites
Stories link to the sources they rely on and to other sites. We don’t control those sites and aren’t responsible for them. Some stories show a post from X, TikTok, YouTube, Reddit or Instagram; most load only when you tap them, and then that company’s own terms apply.
Copyright complaints
If you think something on the site uses your work without permission, the copyright page explains how to tell us and what happens next.
The site is offered as it is
We try to keep the site working and accurate, but we can’t promise it will always be available or free of errors. To the extent the law allows, the Globe is not liable for losses that come from using the site.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we’ll change the date at the top. Material changes will be noted on the page rather than made quietly.
Contact
Questions about these terms: editor@thelaglobe.com. Every other address is on the contact page, and the paper’s other policies are on the masthead page and the privacy page.
