New Arts District Movie Rooftop Charges $14 to $17 for Drinks, With No Cocktail Menu

Drinks run $14 to $17 at the new Arts District rooftop where La Cha Cha Chá used to be, and there is no cocktail menu. The bar will make whatever a guest asks for, Eater LA reported on August 25, 2026. That report is a dining review of the space, Cineopera, at 812 East 3rd Street in Los Angeles. Ticket prices for the screenings and per-dish food prices are not in it.

Cineopera is still run by Muy Salsa Hospitality, the group behind Loreto and Santa Canela, according to the outlet. The same group operated La Cha Cha Chá in this airy rooftop room facing the Downtown Los Angeles skyline. The woven lamps, succulents and palm trees carried over. The food and drink, Eater LA reported, did not.

That matters to anyone deciding where an evening out goes this month. The room is not new and the address is not new. What you can order there is almost entirely different from what it was.

What is on the menu, and what is coming off

The food list is still changing. It currently includes pasta, salads and a platter of fried items, with wine available by the bottle, the outlet reported. Staff told Eater LA that sandwiches were about to come off the menu.

Dishes named in the report:

  • Fritto misto, with calamari, fried shrimp, zucchini, eggplant and fries.
  • Beetello tonnato, made with beets and lightly seared tuna.
  • Pasta pomodoro, built on fresh rigatoni.
  • Panna cotta with lemon granita, from pastry chef Ellen Ramos, who is behind the bakery Santa Canela.

The screenings

Films rotate weekly, and Eater LA directs readers to Cineopera's own site for what is showing. Recliner chairs can be reserved for the screening, the outlet reported. Whether those reservations carry a fee, and what it is, is not stated in the report.

What the report says about the room

Half the rooftop is closed off, which Eater LA described as leaving the space hollow rather than busy. The outlet's assessment was that the venue is mid-transition:

“Cineopera has the bones to be great; as of now, it feels like it’s in an awkward growing stage.”

Per the drink prices published in that August 25, 2026 dining report. A full priced-out evening — admission tier, recliner surcharge, food by the plate — cannot be built from what has been published so far. The venue's city entertainment and alcohol permit status is not addressed in the report either.
