Fogo de Chão's Gaucho Steak Carvers Land in West Covina Nov. 2
The Brazilian churrascaria opens at Eastland Center, and its bar runs all-day happy hour Monday through Thursday with $6 beers.

Gaucho chefs carving picanha straight off the skewer are headed for a mall in West Covina. Fogo de Chão, the Brazilian steakhouse chain founded in 1979, opens at Eastland Center on Nov. 2, What Now Los Angeles reported Tuesday, and the chain's own West Covina page already lists the same date.
The main event is churrasco: an open grill and a steady parade of meat carved at the table, from picanha (top sirloin) to lamb, with a Market Table on the side. But the smart way in is the bar. Bar Fogo does Brazilian-inspired small plates without the full churrasco commitment, and the company's site says it runs happy hour all day Monday through Thursday. Beers are $6 and South American wines are $8. Cocktails go for $10.
The restaurant's at 2625 E. Eastland Center Drive, with self-parking. What Now reported in May that the chain was moving into a former TGI Fridays at the mall, and that it joins Fogo locations around L.A. in Pasadena, Beverly Hills and Santa Monica, among others.
Opening week's ribeyes come with a good deed on the side: Fogo will give 10% of its first week's sales to Shepherd's Pantry, a local group that hands out food and other help to people who need it, What Now reported.
