The Lucas Museum's Grill Is Booked Through December. Walk-Ins Get the Bar.
Skywalker Grill's Wagyu burger runs $38, and the lobby cafe downstairs sells a grilled cheese for $2.

The most-ordered dish at the Lucas Museum's new rooftop restaurant is a $38 hamburger ground from George Lucas's own Wagyu cattle. Skywalker Grill sits on top of the $1-billion Lucas Museum of Narrative Art in Exposition Park and opens to the public September 22, 2026, the Los Angeles Times reported on September 17.
You can't book a table. Every seat in the dining room was gone through the end of the year as of September 16, Times staff writer Stephanie Breijo reported. Member previews in early September filled the calendar into November, then past it. So if you've got museum tickets this fall, the bar is your restaurant. Those stools are held for walk-ins and carry the full menu.
Dining-room prices run $13 to $65. The lobby cafe below — pizza in both New York-style and square, tacos, sandwiches, salads, soft serve — mostly lands between $9 and $15, with a grilled cheese as low as $2, the Times reported.
The menu is comfort Americana: crab cakes, mac and cheese, pigs in a blanket, a chopped salad Lucas favors, jumbo prawn cocktail, chicken tenders you can have topped with caviar. The ranch Wagyu also turns up as steak and in a Bolognese, and honey from Lucas's bees goes into a butter served with the house focaccia and sourdough. Skywalker Vineyards rosé, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir are coming later.
Building a restaurant out of the owner's own farm reads as vanity until it hits arithmetic. A representative told the Times the ranch is trying to double its herd to meet the grill's demand, and the honey comes in small enough volume that the kitchen had to decide where to spend it. That's a constraint, and constraints are what shape a menu. It also means the single item everyone orders is the one most exposed if the cattle can't keep up.
Two comparisons place it. The first is Anaheim: at Disneyland's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, the theming is the product, down to Grogu cookies and Bantha milk. Skywalker Grill isn't selling that, though the Times reports lightsabers get checked at the door. The second is the restaurant at Skywalker Ranch in Marin County, where Diego Cardoso, global vice president of culinary for Rhubarb Events & Hospitality Collection, ran menu tastings for Lucas and Mellody Hobson with the Wagyu herd visible through the window. Exposition Park is that room with the public let in.
Cardoso told the Times the vision was never a tasting counter. “It's not a restaurant for George,” he said, adding that the aim from the start was “inclusivity, it's approachability, the dishes that people connect to.”
The obvious objection is that approachability is an odd word for a room where the cheapest way in is a bar stool you have to win by showing up early, under a $38 signature burger. That's fair, and the $2 grilled cheese in the lobby is the answer — it just isn't the same experience, and everybody involved knows it.
Here's my order under those posted prices. Skip the caviar supplement; the tenders are chicken tenders. Take the chicken-and-mushroom crepe, the one the Times traces to a Bay Area restaurant Lucas and his daughter love, because that's the dish with a reason to exist. Then eat downstairs on the way out.
Skywalker Grill is at One Lucas Plaza, 3800 S. Vermont Ave. Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; to 9 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday; and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday. Arrive at open and head for the bar.
