'Sold Out': Lucas Museum's Skywalker Grill Filled Nine Preview Meals

The restaurant opens to the public Sept. 22, and you don't need a museum ticket to eat there.

All nine meal services in the Skywalker Grill's members-only preview week sold out before the restaurant ever served a paying customer. Seven lunches and two dinners ran Sept. 5 through Sept. 11, 2026. Each one is stamped "(sold out)" on the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art's own member-preview reservation page, which also says the restaurant expects some same-day walk-up availability.

So if you saw the screenshot going around and started hunting for a table: the Skywalker Grill opens to the public on Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, the same day the museum does. No museum ticket is required to eat there. The park and gardens, the store and the café are ticket-free too, per the museum's visitor page.

The booking itself doesn't live on the museum's site. Its Skywalker Grill page carries a single reservations button that opens in a new tab, and the museum's Aug. 11, 2026 announcement puts it plainly: "Reservations are now available on Resy." The listing sits under Resy's Los Angeles venues, with a write-up, a dress code and a reservation policy. How far into the fall the book actually runs isn't posted anywhere on lucasmuseum.org.

The December part is one outlet's reading. Secret Los Angeles, in a Sept. 11, 2026 post by Sarah Nash, wrote that "Reservations are already showing a waitlist extending into December." The museum's own announcement makes no claim about waitlist depth at all.

Desk note: nine sold-out services for museum members is a checkable fact, and it's the one the museum published itself. A book gone until December is, so far, a description of somebody's screen, and the museum is still telling people to try walking up. Those are two different claims, and only one of them is on the museum's site.

No plate has left that kitchen yet.
