Before this paper existed, the biggest sporting event on Earth spent a month running through Inglewood. SoFi Stadium hosted eight World Cup matches in all — five group stage games, two Round of 32 knockouts, and, on July 10, the quarterfinal that made Los Angeles the only American city to host one, per SoFi Stadium's match schedule and Time Out's LA World Cup guide.
The retrospective question worth carrying forward: the region moved hundreds of thousands of fans through Inglewood without a rail stop at the stadium's front door. Every lesson learned this summer is a dress rehearsal for the 2028 Games — and this paper will spend the next two years checking whether anyone wrote those lessons down.
