Tokyo Sushi's website promises "authentic Japanese flavors." The menu it's bringing to Harbor City also has a Korean streak, with short ribs, bulgogi and a spicy tofu stew sharing space with the nigiri. What Now Los Angeles reported Monday that public filings show Tokyo Sushi lining up a new location at 1151 W. Pacific Coast Highway. It would be an expansion of the Simi Valley original, open since late December 2023, according to a local report What Now cited.

The Harbor City space is big: 4,210 square feet with 137 seats indoors, and the filing suggests the place could get the OK to pour beer and wine alongside food. The Japanese side of the menu goes wide too, with udon, seafood ramen, takoyaki and bento boxes next to the specialty rolls. Nobody has announced an opening date. What Now said it asked Jae Yi, the listed CEO of operator E2 USA Inc., about timing and didn't hear back before publishing.

Purists who want just the fish can check our sushi ranking. Tokyo Sushi is going after a different crowd. It's built for the table where one person wants a spicy tuna roll and the other wants soondubu, and on that stretch of PCH it would offer both in one room.
