The company cutting 137 jobs at Los Angeles International Airport once called LAX its largest station in the Americas. Menzies Aviation, which handles ground services, fueling and cargo for airlines, told the state the layoffs are permanent and take effect Nov. 19, What Now Los Angeles reported Friday.

The notice is dated Oct. 5, the state's WARN report shows, and lists 1 World Way, the airport's own address. That's 45 days of warning. The state's WARN law generally asks for 60, though it allows exceptions, and What Now said the filing gives no reason for the shorter window or for the cuts themselves. It doesn't say which jobs are going, either.

Menzies is based in London, traces its roots to Edinburgh and says it works at 347 airports in 65 countries. LAX got the brag in 2022, when the company announced it had won new business there from the LATAM Group, Level and MAS airlines.

Four years on, the station it called its largest in the Americas is where 137 of its jobs are set to end on Nov. 19.
