Mattel, the El Segundo company, whose shares trade on Nasdaq under the symbol MAT, reported a change involving its directors or officers in a Form 8-K filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on Oct. 22.

The filing says Mattel’s board appointed Lee Matheson, a partner at EdgePoint Investment Group, as a director on Oct. 21 under a cooperation agreement with EdgePoint, and grew the board from nine to ten members. His term runs to the 2027 annual meeting, and Mattel agreed to nominate him for re-election then.

In a press release filed with the report, Mattel called EdgePoint “an approximately 18% stockholder” of the company.

It follows an earlier filing of the same kind, on Oct. 19, in which the company wrote: “On October 19, 2026, Mattel, Inc. (the ‘Company’ or ‘Mattel’) announced that Peter Griffith has been appointed Chief Financial Officer of the Company (‘CFO’) and as a non-independent director of the Board of Directors of the Company (the ‘Board’), in each case effective October 20, 2026 (the ‘Start Date’).”
