The Milwaukee Brewers beat the Dodgers 2-1 on Sunday night to open the National League Championship Series, according to the final score from TheSportsDB. Game 2 starts at 2 p.m. Pacific on Monday on Fox and FS1, MLB.com reported.

The Brewers lead the series 1-0. That's because of one inning the Dodgers will keep replaying. Shohei Ohtani walked to start the second, Andy Pages singled him home, and by the time there was one out the bases were loaded against Jacob Misiorowski, MLB.com reported.

Misiorowski threw 35 pitches in that inning. He got out of it with one ground ball. Kiké Hernández bounced into a double play, with shortstop Cooper Pratt picking it cleanly and Brice Turang turning it at second.

That was the Dodgers' whole night at the plate. Misiorowski, who MLB.com expects to win the National League Cy Young Award, gave up five hits and three walks in 4 1/3 innings and allowed only Ohtani's run. Milwaukee's bullpen got the last 14 outs and didn't give up anything.

The tie came out of a strange top of the fourth. A disputed balk call wiped out what could've been the final out of the half-inning. Misiorowski answered by getting Kyle Tucker swinging at a cutter, then came off the mound with a fist pump and a hop.

Three pitches later, it was 1-1. Tarik Skubal had been the sharper and more efficient of the two aces early, MLB.com noted, but he fell behind Turang 2-0. The fastball he came back with caught too much of the plate. Turang, a lefty facing a lefty, put it into the Brewers' bullpen in left-center field.

Milwaukee didn't need power for the winning run. In the fifth, Garrett Mitchell got to scoring position on a walk and a bunt, and Luis Lara knocked him in. MLB.com called it the kind of inning that has defined the Brewers this season. It took Milwaukee two at-bats to do with a runner on second what the Dodgers couldn't do with three runners on.

The Brewers had insisted things would go differently this time. Last October, the Dodgers won Game 1 on the road and swept Milwaukee out of the NLCS. Now the defending champions are the team chasing.

The Dodgers' best chance of the night came with the bases full and one out in the second, and it went 6-4-3. They get another chance Monday afternoon.
