Dodgers Get Brewers Again After Dave Roberts Passes La Russa
Game 1 is Sunday at 5 p.m. PT in Milwaukee, where the 103-win Brewers hold home-field advantage.

Dave Roberts now has more postseason wins than any manager in baseball history except Joe Torre. His Dodgers will take that run to Milwaukee, where Game 1 of the National League Championship Series against the Brewers is set for Sunday at 5 p.m. PT, True Blue LA reported after Major League Baseball released the start times Thursday.
Roberts got his 72nd playoff win Wednesday, when the Dodgers beat the Atlanta Braves 4-1 to finish their Division Series in four games, Dodger Blue reported. That broke his tie with Tony La Russa at 71. Torre still has 84.
It's the Dodgers' third NLCS in a row and their second straight against the Brewers. It's also the third time the two teams have met in this round in nine years. On paper, Milwaukee has the edge this time. The Brewers led the majors with 103 wins, and that earned them home field.
So the series starts with two games in Milwaukee, moves to Los Angeles for up to three and goes back to Wisconsin for Games 6 and 7 if it gets that far. Game 2 on Monday starts at 2 p.m. Every other game in the series starts at 5 or 6 p.m. Pacific.
- Game 1: Sunday at Milwaukee, 5 p.m. (Fox)
- Game 2: Monday at Milwaukee, 2 p.m. (Fox, FS1)
- Game 3: Oct. 14 at Los Angeles, 5 p.m. (FS1)
- Game 4: Oct. 15 at Los Angeles, 6 p.m. (FS1)
- Game 5, if necessary: Oct. 16 at Los Angeles, 6 p.m. (FS1)
- Game 6, if necessary: Oct. 18 at Milwaukee, 5 p.m. (FS1)
- Game 7, if necessary: Oct. 19 at Milwaukee, 5 p.m. (Fox, FS1)
Starting on the road hasn't hurt this group much lately. Dodger Blue counts the Dodgers at 14-5 away from home over the last three postseasons, with wins in 10 of their last 11 road games.
They've also been good at ending series. Under Roberts, the Dodgers are 19-9 when they can close out a postseason series, True Blue LA found. The rest of the majors have gone 92-88 in those games since 2016.
Roberts has piled up his wins in 11 seasons, all with the Dodgers. Torre managed for 29 seasons, and 76 of his 84 playoff wins came with the New York Yankees. True Blue LA points out that today's managers get more chances. There are extra rounds now, and League Championship Series were best-of-five before 1985.
"I have a lot of respect for Tony and the managers that have done what I'm doing; they've done it for a long time," Roberts said in Atlanta after he tied La Russa, according to True Blue LA.
The Dodgers are eight wins from becoming the first National League team to win three straight World Series, Dodger Blue noted. Even winning all eight would leave Roberts at 80, still four short of Torre. The first chance comes Sunday, on the home field of the team that won more games than anybody else in baseball.
