Say 'Trick or Treat' for a Free Last Trip Through Pacific Park's Funhouse
Ask at a Santa Monica Pier ticket booth Halloween weekend and each guest gets one free pass to the nine-room attraction.

The password is "Trick or Treat." Say it at a Pacific Park ticket booth on Saturday or Sunday and you'll get one free trip through the Funhouse on the Santa Monica Pier, which is closing for good.
Sunday is the Funhouse's last day, the Santa Monica Daily Press reported Thursday. The free admission is the park's send-off. Pacific Park hasn't said what will go in the space.
Here's how the offer works, according to the park's announcement in the Daily Press:
- Go to a Pacific Park ticket booth on the pier on Saturday or Sunday.
- Say "Trick or Treat."
- Get one complimentary Funhouse admission. It's one per guest.
The mistake to avoid is showing up on the wrong day. The offer covers only Saturday and Sunday, and Sunday is also closing day, so there's no make-up date if you miss it. The Daily Press didn't print weekend hours. The park lists them on its website and by phone at 310-260-8744.
What you'd be walking through: 2,800 square feet split into nine rooms and attractions built to throw you off with optical illusions and tricky layouts. Expect mazes, outsized ice cream cones and, by the park's account, maybe a run-in with Sprinkles the Clown.
The idea is older than the building. It was modeled on the Toonerville Funhouse, which first ran at Ocean Park Pier in the 1920s and later at Pacific Ocean Park starting in 1958. Sunday closes the latest version of a funhouse this stretch of coast has kept bringing back for about a century.
The rest of Pacific Park stays open. It calls itself Los Angeles' only admission-free amusement park, with 12 rides and 14 midway games, including the solar-powered Pacific Wheel and the West Coaster, whose steel track climbs 55 feet over Santa Monica Bay.
Steve Garcia, the park's director of sales and marketing, said in a statement carried by the Daily Press that the park is "looking forward to bringing something new and exciting to the space soon." He didn't say what that is or when it opens.
