Family Says ICE Agents Broke U.S. Citizen's Arm in Long Beach
Video shows masked agents taking Ricardo Gonzalez to the ground off his e-bike, and his family says he was hospitalized.

"Help me! Help me! My arm is f------ broken," a man yells on video as masked immigration agents pin him down in North Long Beach.
The arrest happened Saturday, and the activist group StopICE.net shared the footage, ABC7 reported Monday. KTLA identified the man as Ricardo Gonzalez, a U.S. citizen. His family told KTLA he's in the hospital, badly hurt, and that the arm is broken.
The accounts of how it started don't match. StopICE.net claims agents hit him with a vehicle and tackled him before the camera rolled. Surveillance footage KTLA described seems to show an unmarked car cutting off his e-bike, then agents stepping out, a few of them in ICE vests, and closing in. Witnesses told both stations he was tased.
Sherman Austin of StopICE.net told ABC7 that Gonzalez was riding through his own neighborhood when agents came speeding down the street at 50 mph, on a Saturday with kids outside.
Neighbors poured outside, yelling at the agents while Gonzalez went down and the cuffs went on, KTLA reported. "I've seen animals rounded up more humanely," neighbor Hugo Soriano told KTLA. Once Long Beach police showed up, he was taken for hospital treatment, ABC7 reported.
Then it turned into a fight between officials. Rep. Robert Garcia, a former Long Beach mayor whose district includes the city, posted that ICE agents had attacked a U.S. citizen and broken his arm, and called the videos "horrific."
Bill Essayli, the Trump-appointed first assistant U.S. attorney in Southern California, answered on X, accusing Garcia of urging people to get in the way of immigration agents. "These incidents would be less common if the targets complied with lawful commands," Essayli wrote.
Essayli didn't say what commands Gonzalez was given. Why agents stopped him at all, and whether he'll be charged with anything, hadn't been made clear, KTLA reported. The Department of Homeland Security hadn't answered ABC7's request for comment, and KTLA said it was still waiting to hear back from federal immigration officials.
Long Beach Mayor Rex Richardson posted a video saying he'd told city staff to confirm what happened and document all of it, KTLA reported.
Meanwhile, his family set up a GoFundMe for him. The money, relatives say, is for his doctors' bills and the time he'll need to heal.
