The donut counter at Santa Monica Boulevard and Highland Avenue in Hollywood, the one with Danny Trejo's name over it, has two days left.

Trejo's Coffee & Donuts said on Instagram that its last day at 6785 Santa Monica Blvd. is Thursday because its lease is ending, KABC reported. The actor owns the shop with partners Ash Shah and Jeff Georgino. They say the brand will come back somewhere else, but they haven't named an address or an opening date, WhatNow reported.

That leaves regulars with no second shop to fall back on, and not for lack of talk. Back in 2017, Trejo and Georgino said they wanted to take the brand national, with shops in Pasadena, Silver Lake and near USC, The Pride LA reported, according to Hoodline. The company's own FAQ still lists exactly one address as of 2025: the one closing Thursday.

That same page explains why there's no mail-order lifeline either: the donuts are baked from scratch daily and don't ship. The posted hours are 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week. In its goodbye post, the shop asked people to come by before the doors close, share a donut with the staff and say "see you soon," KABC reported.

This corner has lost a donut shop before. It was home to Donut Time, which showed up in the indie film "Tangerine" and had shut by the summer of 2016, Hoodline noted. Trejo's took over the spot in May 2017 and ran out of donuts before that first morning ended, Hoodline wrote, citing ABC7.

Nearly a decade later, the shop is known for Mexican-inspired flavors like the Abuelita and the Mangonada, plus a side business in catering and custom-branded donuts for launches and events, WhatNow reported.

Among the people answering the goodbye post was a mail carrier who said on Instagram they'd picked up a donut at the Hollywood shop every day on the job and are counting down to the new one, WhatNow reported. That new one doesn't have an address yet.
