Compton Flag Football Is 21-0 and Headed Back to the Quarterfinals
High-school sports: The unbeaten Tarbabes won a CIF Southern Section Division 3 second-round game and play at Valencia on Tuesday.

One Compton player pulled 10 flags, intercepted a pass and caught a touchdown Saturday as Compton beat Patriot 38-13, The562 reported. The CIF Southern Section Division 3 second-round win at home sends the Tarbabes to Tuesday's quarterfinals.
Compton went into the playoffs 19-0 as the Hub City League champion, The562 noted when the brackets came out, so Saturday's win made it 21 straight. That same bracket preview from The562 recalled how last fall's team got to this round: two playoff wins in Division 4.
Compton spread the scoring around. Five touchdown catches went to four receivers, two of them to one junior receiver, who also had an interception. The quarterback kept one and ran it in for the sixth score. The defense added two sacks from a sophomore and eight flag pulls from a senior captain.
The number worth circling is the one Compton gave up. Patriot's 13 points were the first the Tarbabes have allowed this postseason; The562's first-round roundup had them shutting out Los Altos 12-0. That's 50 points to 13 over two games, though the total can't say whether Patriot scored before the game was decided or after.
Last season's quarterfinal came a division lower. Tuesday's, at Valencia, is the same round one division up.
