$247,000 of Musk's First $800,000 Went to Help Senate Candidate Ken Paxton

Elon Musk's America PAC spent every August dollar on printing, in Senate and House races from Maine to Virginia.

Elon Musk's super PAC spent roughly $800,000 in August to help Republican congressional candidates. Every dollar of it was itemized as printing. The America PAC expenditures were disclosed to the Federal Election Commission on the night of September 2, 2026, and first reported by CNN.

The largest single piece landed in Texas. More than $247,000 went to aid Ken Paxton, the Texas attorney general running for the U.S. Senate. Paxton has been far outspent on the airwaves by James Talarico, the Democratic nominee, CNN reported.

America PAC's account on X has spent recent weeks going after Talarico. Its posts call his politics a poor fit for Texas voters, the outlet reported.

Printing is the tell. None of the August money went to broadcast. CNN read that as the mark of an operation built around direct voter contact rather than airtime.

America PAC's other early investments, as CNN described the filings:

• Senate races in Maine, Iowa, New Hampshire, Michigan and Ohio
• House races in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia

California isn't among them.

The state's live House fights sit in the Central Valley and in Orange County. No district in either place shows up in this first round of disclosed spending.

Musk has put more than $50 million into America PAC this cycle. He's also given $10 million each to the main Republican super PACs working House and Senate races. Another $10 million went to a super PAC in Kentucky's Senate contest, CNN reported.

Andrew Romeo, a spokesman for America PAC, told CNN the group "is working in full coordination with the entire GOP apparatus." Romeo said the committee is putting money into the states and districts that will settle control of Congress. A person familiar with its plans told the outlet that America PAC intends both to defend Republican-held seats and to go after districts Democrats hold now.

The spending marks Musk's return to Republican politics more than a year after his public break with President Donald Trump. He floated starting a party of his own. He then dropped the idea and reconciled with Trump, CNN reported.

On September 5, 2026, Trump's super PAC, MAGA Inc., disclosed a $10 million ad buy for Paxton. That's about 40 times what Musk's committee spent on printing for him in August.
