Six Free L.A. TV Tapings, Ranked. The Price Is Right Wins, Adults Only.
Ranked on how sure your ticket is, how young a fan can be and how long the taping keeps you in your seat.

The Price Is Right wins. It's the famous one and it turns away anyone under 18, and I'd normally distrust a list that crowns the famous one. It still beats every other free studio audience in Los Angeles for one plain reason: it's the only one with dates on the board.
These six shows are ranked by how you get a ticket, how old you have to be and how long you'll sit. Most of them hand out tickets through On Camera Audiences, and at the end of October four of the other five showed a waitlist or a hiatus notice instead of a calendar.
1. The Price Is Right
On Camera Audiences lists tapings on Nov. 5, 6, 9 and 13, plus dates in December and January, with tickets usually going out about a month ahead. Several shows tape each day, and you get one. Check-in is at the Charis Mission Church parking lot, 5005 Edenhurst Ave., in northeast L.A. The page doesn't say how long you'll sit, and the 18-and-over rule shuts out families, but it's the only show here you can plan around today.
2. Wheel of Fortune
Anyone 8 or older can come, as long as a parent or legal guardian brings the minors. Tapings with Ryan Seacrest and Vanna White happen on Stage 11 at Sony Pictures Studios in Culver City, and Wheel Watchers Club members can get VIP seats. There's no posted length and, for now, no dates, only a waitlist.
3. Jeopardy!
Here's my defended hot take: the trivia kid's dream show is third. Jeopardy! lets in 8-year-olds with a parent, and every person in your group needs their own ticket. Then comes the bill. Ken Jennings's show tapes five episodes a day for two audiences, and On Camera Audiences says to allow about 4 to 5 hours.
That's longer than the 3 to 4 hours Discover Los Angeles warned parents about in its guide last October. Same lot as Wheel, same age floor, and this one tells you up front it wants your whole afternoon. The ticket page said the show was on hiatus.
4. Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Of everything I ranked, this is the one I'm least sure about. Discover Los Angeles's guide says a taping at the El Capitan Entertainment Center on Hollywood Boulevard usually runs about 90 minutes, easily the shortest sit here. It also says the show hands out more tickets than it has seats, wants you there 30 to 45 minutes before the check-in deadline and holds your phone and bag until you leave. That guide is a year old and doesn't list an age limit, so the shortest show sits fourth.
5. Dancing with the Stars
Dancing with the Stars runs a lottery, drawing winners from its waitlist each week. Winning gets you standing room in the upper balcony at Television City on Beverly Boulevard, because the floor seats go to production and the contestants' guests. Tickets are handed out past capacity, so even winners line up first-come, first-served. Ages 12 and up. The page now points to a waitlist for next season.
6. Big Brother
Big Brother puts you in the room for an eviction at Radford Studio Center in Studio City, which is a great pitch. The rest isn't: you have to be 18, you only get one visit a season, and the page calls tickets extremely limited because the studio is small. For now it's a waitlist for next season.
Which brings it back to No. 1. The Price Is Right is taping its holidays out of season: a Cinco de Mayo show already ran Oct. 23, and a Mother's Day taping is set for Nov. 5. If a contestant lands a Bendy on the wheel on a Friday, the page says the whole audience gets free donuts. The other November tapings are Pride on Nov. 6, Earth Day on Nov. 9 and St. Patrick's Day on Nov. 13, all at 7:30 a.m.
