Nearly 300 LA Tech Week Events Landed in Santa Monica and Venice
Santa Monica alone listed 202 events in the week backed by the venture firm Andreessen Horowitz, and AI ran through the calendar.

LA Tech Week put nearly 300 events in two Westside neighbors this month, from Google coding workshops on Venice's Windward Avenue to live startup pitches in Santa Monica.
The official calendar listed 202 events in Santa Monica and 92 in Venice, the Santa Monica Daily Press reported Wednesday.
The week was presented by the venture firm Andreessen Horowitz and ran Oct. 12 to 18, according to its organizers' website. It doesn't use a convention hall. Companies and investors host their own panels, lunches and happy hours.
More than 400 listings on the citywide calendar were tagged AI, the Daily Press found, among them a TechSpace summit in Venice for developers and creators using Claude, Anthropic's AI. One Santa Monica mixer was called Cocktails and Capital, so nobody had to guess what it was for.
The city wants the week to leave something behind. Santa Monica has "always been a place where bold ideas take root," Jennifer Taylor, the city's economic development manager, said, according to the Daily Press. Restaurants, hotels and coworking spaces were in line for the week's spending. The bigger test is whether those introductions turn into hires, new companies and signed leases while Santa Monica weighs what's next for its commercial districts.
