Nathan Fielder's Elizabeth Holmes Documentary Opens in October

The documentary Nathan Fielder has been making about Elizabeth Holmes now has a title, a teaser trailer and an October theatrical release. A24 unveiled the film, "You Can See Everything," on September 6, 2026, the day of its world premiere as the secret screening at the Telluride Film Festival in Colorado, TheWrap reported. A specific October date hasn't been announced.

Holmes will still be in custody when it opens. She reported to prison in May 2023 and is serving a sentence of more than 11 years, handed down after a federal jury convicted her of defrauding investors in Theranos, the blood-testing company she founded.

Prosecutors also accused her of defrauding patients — the claim at the center of that count was that one small blood sample could run a long list of tests on a proprietary machine — and on those charges she was acquitted, the outlet reported. Her co-defendant was Ramesh "Sunny" Balwani, Theranos' former chief operating officer and her former boyfriend.

Fielder co-directed with Lance Oppenheim, and the trailer sets the tone for what the two of them apparently built. In it, per TheWrap's description, Fielder presses Holmes on whether she's being "real" while she comforts her newborn child.

A24's synopsis puts the start of filming just before she surrendered: "Thirty-four days before she's sent to prison, notorious Silicon Valley founder Elizabeth Holmes invites a skeptical film crew to document her every move." The distributor describes what follows as a three-year project. Reports that Fielder had been visiting Holmes in prison with a camera crew have circulated for years without confirmation, according to TheWrap.

The pairing is the part worth sitting with. Fielder's television work — "Nathan for You" on Comedy Central from 2013 to 2017, then "The Rehearsal" on HBO — is comedy built out of real people and elaborate setups. Oppenheim comes from straighter nonfiction with a heavy visual signature: "Some Kind of Heaven" in 2020, "Spermworld" in 2024 and the HBO docuseries "Ren Faire," also 2024. He's since moved into scripted features with the A24 film "Primetime," starring Robert Pattinson as Chris Hansen, which premiered at the Venice Film Festival to mostly strong reviews, TheWrap reported.

Here's the comp nobody at a studio wants to run: everybody who got to this story first got a conventional version of it. Alex Gibney made the 2019 documentary "The Inventor: Out for Blood in Silicon Valley." Liz Meriwether's Hulu limited series "The Dropout" cast Amanda Seyfried as Holmes. A film that would have starred Jennifer Lawrence, with Adam McKay directing, was scrapped after the Hulu series beat it to the screen.

None of those had access to Holmes herself. This one, by A24's own account, has 34 days of it before the prison gate and three years of whatever came after.

Telluride's audience saw it first. Theaters get it in October, on a day A24 still has to name.
