Luka Dončić scored 23 points and the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Sacramento Kings 114-110 on Thursday night, a final score from TheSportsDB. Dončić's total comes from CBS Sports.

It was a preseason game at Crypto.com Arena, The Sporting Tribune reported. It was also the Lakers' first preseason game at the arena this fall. Lakers Nation noted that it was their second win over Sacramento this preseason, after the two teams' earlier meeting.

The number that matters is four, the whole margin. It's a close game on paper, but a preseason final can't tell you who was on the floor when it was decided. In October, rotations are still experiments, so the score says more about the night than about the team.

That's the limit of an exhibition. Coaches use these games to look at players, not to protect a lead. A two-possession win on a Thursday in October doesn't move anything in the standings, because there aren't any standings yet.

The Lakers still got what a home preseason game is for: their own fans, their own court and a Dončić scoring night. Sacramento has now lost to the same team twice before either side has played a game that counts.
