L.A. Coworking Day Passes, Ranked. The Cheapest Desk Isn't No. 1.
Ranked by what one desk for one day costs and what the pass gets you, from coffee and printing to breakfast.

The best coworking day pass in Los Angeles costs $35, and it's not the cheapest desk in town. Blankspaces' open-seating pass wins because its own rate card spells out what the money buys. The $20 desk downtown doesn't say what you get.
The test is simple: what one desk costs for one day, and what comes with it. Prices are the ones each operator posts on its own site or that the booking app Deskpass listed as of Thursday. WeWork isn't ranked because its L.A. day-pass prices couldn't be checked.
1. Blankspaces WorkCafé, seven locations from Long Beach to Hollywood: $35
Blankspaces' walk-in rates get you a full day from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for $35 or four hours for $20. Five weekdays in a row cost $80, or $16 a day. The pass covers Wi-Fi, soundproof phone booths (first come, first served), pay-as-you-go printing and unlimited coffee and tea. Deskpass lists Blankspaces spots at $30 a day, $5 under the front desk. The catch is that the pass works only at the location you picked when you bought it.
2. Indie Desk, downtown: $20
This is my defended hot take, and it's also the entry I'm least sure about. Deskpass lists Indie Desk at $20 a day, in a suite in the Wells Fargo North Tower at 333 S. Grand Ave. The listing tags it quiet and says it has a shared printer. That's all it posts. For somebody who just needs a silent chair, it's the best deal in the city. For anyone who'll want coffee or a booth for a call, there's no posted promise of either.
3. The Preserve, Hollywood: $40
Deskpass lists a desk here at $40. According to its LiquidSpace listing, that gets you a two-acre campus with more than 6,500 plants, a café, a restaurant and a garden. The same listing puts paid underground parking on De Longpre at $25, so drivers pay far more than the desk price. One LiquidSpace reviewer wrote in February that the phone-booth chairs "are criminal though!"
4. Industrious, Old Pasadena and Pasarroyo: $63
Industrious' own day-pass page promises a desk, a lounge, fast Wi-Fi and breakfast from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. That's a nine-hour day to Blankspaces' eight. Its two Pasadena locations list the pass on Deskpass for $63, which is $12 less than the company charges almost everywhere else.
5. Industrious, most other L.A. locations: $75
Deskpass lists Industrious at $75 a day in Sherman Oaks, Burbank, Santa Monica, Westwood, Century City, Playa District, El Segundo, Malibu and Marina del Rey. That's more than double Blankspaces' door rate. The breakfast and the extra hour are real, and the company says the pass works at more than 250 locations worldwide. That reach matters to a traveler. It doesn't help much if you're just trying to get out of your apartment in Mid-City.
6. Industrious Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive: $125
Same company and same day pass, but this one sits at 150 S. Rodeo Drive. Deskpass lists it at $125 a day, for the desk, lounge and breakfast Industrious sells in Burbank for $75.
